Dedicated sports fans will be happy to know that starting from 1 October 2021, Astro is refreshing its Sports Pack lineup by adding three new channels to bring you more exciting content from around the globe!
Subscribers of the Sports Pack will be getting access to Astro SuperSport 5, Astro Arena 2 and a brand-new sports channel called SPOTV. This means that the Sport Pack with a total of 11 sports channels has the most comprehensive coverage at its price, which starts at RM92 per month and includes streaming on 4 devices with the Astro GO app.
The new channels have everything that a sports enthusiast might want, from football to mixed martial arts, and so much more. To satisfy your football cravings, Astro SuperSport 5 (CH815) offers exciting matches from the European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Concacaf World Cup qualifiers, Bundesliga, FA Women’s Super League, UEFA Nations League, and many more! The channel will also broadcast thrilling bouts from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and electrifying Formula 1 races from this year’s Grand Prix.
Of course, a sports package for Malaysians wouldn’t be complete without badminton! SuperSport 5 offers LIVE sessions for both the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. Tennis enthusiasts will be glad to know that they can catch the ATP Tour and the WTA Tour on the channel as well. As if that’s not enough, tune in to the new SPOTV (CH816) channel to keep up with major tennis tournaments such as Wimbledon and the US Open Tennis Championships!
While waiting for the next Grand Prix season to begin, don’t miss out on the exhilarating MotoGP races which will start airing on the night of SPOTV’s launch! And for those who love the sound of sneakers on the court, the channel will also air live broadcasts of the Korean Basketball League.
For some local flavour, the new Astro Arena 2 (CH 802) channel will present localised coverage of world-class local and international sporting events and the latest news updates, featuring a host of Malaysia’s favourite TV personalities and special guests. Other than that, there will also be live studio presentations for WWE matches and BWF badminton events, tailored especially for Malaysian sports fans. And good news for the parents out there, Astro Arena 2 will be added to the Family Pack for free, so even more Astro subscribers can enjoy the channel’s sports coverage!
Astro already has a strong schedule for the first ten days of broadcasting for the new channels. From the first day, you can watch a variety of sports events such as the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, including the free practice sessions, the qualifying race, and the main race on SPOTV. Astro Supersport 5, on the other hand, will be jam-packed with football matches from so many different leagues and championships, so make sure you tune in every day! Meanwhile, F1 fans will also get to see all the live action from the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix starting on 8 October 2021!
