As part of THQ Nordic’s 10th anniversary, the publisher is giving away Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition for free on Steam. But the publisher also took the opportunity to announce a new sequel to the series that started in the 1990s. And with that, we have the announcement of Jagged Alliance 3.
The game itself is being developed by Bulgarian studio Haemimont Games, which has also done Tropico 3, 4 and 5. Jagged Alliance 3 has a trailer with a mix of cinematic and gameplay footage, which looks interesting.
Overall, Jagged Alliance is not deviating much from the original formula. It’s still the same old tactical RPG title, but of course with much better graphics. If there’s anyone old enough to be fans of the series, they’ll also recognise returning characters in the trailer.
The setting this time around is a fictional place called Grand Chien, which has been thrown into chaos when the elected president goes missing. Things get more complicated as a paramilitary force known as “The Legion” comes in and takes control of the countryside.
The trailer does not come with a release date, but it already has a Steam page. Even its main website only has “coming soon” on the top left corner, so it will be awhile before details on that gets announced.
