Alongside the iPad mini 6, Apple also announced the 9th generation regular iPad during its announcement stream. Naturally, being the newer model, it features upgrades over the previous models. It also gets one major feature from the iPad Pro M1 announced back in May as well.
Like the iPad mini 6, the iPad 9 is also getting the Center Stage feature. Alongside the feature, the 12MP front-facing camera is also a familiar one. This seems to be a standard feature that the company wants on its tablet lineup.
On the inside, the iPad 9 comes with the A13 Bionic chipset, which the company says is 20% better than the A12 Bionic found in the previous generation tablet. Coming alongside is iPadOS 15 and all the features that come with it.
All that being said, the ninth generation iPad still retains its traditional look of having thick bezels at the top and bottom, with the old Touch ID button. This means that it’s the only tablet left in the lineup to not use the Pro redesign. This also means that, while it also gets Apple Pencil support, this is limited to the first generation model of the accessory.
The iPad 9 also comes in both WiFi and cellular models, as well as 64GB and 256GB storage options. Prices for the WiFi model starts from US$329 (~RM1369), while the cellular model has a starting price of US$459 (~RM1910). No word on local pricing details just yet, but we’ll let you know when we learn more.
