Leakster Digital Chat Station (via Weibo) tipped last week that OPPO and Kodak are allegedly working together to develop a flagship-tier smartphone. But rather than the familiar trend of partnerships between smartphone and camera brands, a more recent leak allegedly reveals that this collaboration will see both companies release a limited edition Find X3 Pro, sporting a design inspired by the camera maker’s vintage cameras.
Gizmochina reports that a live photo of the smartphone, which is suggested to be known as the Photographer Edition, was uploaded on Weibo. Based on this, its rear case is shown to feature a dual-textured finish; with its upper half decked out in metallic silver and the bottom half covered in black leather. Digital Chat Station says this design pays tribute to the camera maker’s first ever product that was released in 1938, the Kodak 35.
In terms of specs, the leakster added that the OPPO x Kodak Find X3 Pro limited edition would feature the same hardware as the original model that was launched locally back in April this year. To recap, the flagship smartphone is equipped with a curved 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 888 chipset, 16GB RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support via USB-C.
Also unchanged is its camera setup, which retains the dual 50MP sensors for its main and ultra wide-angle shooters, paired together with a 13MP telephoto and 3MP microscope camera. This is quite surprising as usually we’d expect some kind of tweaks to be done to the imaging system, especially from a collaboration with camera manufacturers such as Kodak. Although, it is also possible that we could see a co-development between the two brands in the camera software side of things instead.
Neither Digital Chat Station nor this new leak revealed the alleged OPPO x Kodak Find X3 Pro limited edition’s expected release date. But seeing that a live photo featuring the product has made its way online, an official unveiling might not be too far off.
