Here’s definitely something for the guitar freaks and rock & roll lovers alike. LEGO has recently unveiled its new Fender Stratocaster set, allowing you to build either a red or black version of the iconic electric guitar. Of course, you’ll be getting more than just the Stratocaster’s miniature replica out of the box, but we’ll get to that later.
The new set is released under LEGO Ideas, an online platform by the Danish toymaker that selects potential and highly voted fan-designed LEGO creations for commercial production. In this case, the original concept was designed by Slovakian designer Tomáš Letenay, who submitted the set to the platform’s Music To Our Ears competition in 2020. Despite earning 7th place in the contest, Letenay’s design managed to convince the LEGO Group’s review board to push it into becoming an official set.
Like most finalised sets that originate from LEGO Ideas, the company fine tuned the design of Letenay’s concept – making the guitar appear as close as possible to its actual counterpart. As seen from the photos provided by the company, the LEGO replica of the Fender Stratocaster features its iconic design in either black or red colour options. This is accompanied together with a white scratch plate, triple single-coil pickups, poseable tuning pegs, a tremolo arm, and six guitar strings. And yes, you can attach an included guitar strap to its front button and rear knob.
Speaking of extras, also included in the set is a display stand, guitar picks, a foot pedal and an equally detailed Fender amplifier, which you can detach its top and rear covers to reveal its inner speaker, wiring, and motherboard. Oh, and completing the entire setup is an included miniature cable that connects from the amp to the Stratocaster.
Now, before you start tossing cash onto your screen, be informed that the LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster set will only arrive in Malaysia in early October 2021. The company also revealed that the new set will retail at RM499.90 via LEGO certified stores and LEGOLAND Malaysia.
