The Battlefield series, being a first-person shooter, is something you’d expect to see on PC and consoles. But with the explosion of popularity of battle royale games on mobile, it should be no surprise to see these games being more popular on mobile as well. And that’s exactly what we see, with EA putting up Battlefield Mobile on the Google Play Store.
Its description reads just about the same as any other game in the series. You get a large selection of weapons, and a sprinkling of vehicles, to make use of. There also looks to be four classes to choose from in Battlefield Mobile: Assault, Recon, Medic and Support, all four being staples of the series. There is also mention of heroes with “unique narratives”, which is similar to the main draw of Battlefield 2042.
In an FAQ page, EA says that it is starting with a series of small play tests for Battlefield Mobile. Starting with Indonesia and the Philippines. Trying to access the game’s page on the Google Play Store via mobile at the time of writing will get you the disappointing line of “This item is not available in your country”. Though EA does say that as the testing goes on, the publisher will add new regions to the test.
In many ways, this can be seen as EA wanting something similar to Activision’s Call of Duty Mobile. Though right now, it’s obviously in its very early stages still. Based on a previous report by AppleInsier, it’s likely the full release version of Battlefield Mobile will only be released sometime next year.
