Samsung has launched the Galaxy A03s in Malaysia, its new entry level smartphone and successor to the Galaxy A02s that was released earlier this year. While most of the updates on the handset are minor, it does feature a faster yet more power efficient chipset and a price tag that’s still below RM600.
The new smartphone sports a notched 6.5-inch HD+ TFT LCD Infinity-V display. Like other Galaxy A0 series before it, there are no under-display biometric sensors, but you can find a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and lock button combo on its side. The Samsung Galaxy A03s features Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0 support, GPS, Glonass, Beidou and Galileo navigation support, as well as Android 11 via the brand’s latest One UI out of the box.
Under the hood of the device is a 4G-enabled MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, which is paired together with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a triple-slotted SIM card tray that supports a total of two SIM cards and a MicroSD card. In regards to the latter, the phone is capable of supporting an extended storage capacity of up to 1TB.
The rear cameras featured on the Galaxy A03s are basically the same as its predecessor. To be more specific, the phone comes with a 13MP f/2.2 main camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. These may not be as robust as Samsung’s mid-range or high-end offerings, but should be enough for day-to-day photo taking purposes. As for video, the onboard imaging system is capable of recording 1080p footage at 30 frames per second. Housed in the notch on the phone’s display is a 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera.
The new smartphone features a 5,000mAh battery which, again, is similar to the Galaxy A02s. However, Samsung notes that it does feature a slower charging speed at 7.75W via USB-C (its predecessor comes with 15W fast charging support).
The new Galaxy A03s is available in three colourways: Blue, Black, and White. The phone is priced at RM559, and available now via Samsung Malaysia’s official website and online store.
