Under Armour and JBL have unveiled a new Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson endorsed Project Rock Over-Ear Training Headphones. It is actually an update to the previous model that was released back in 2018, now with active noise cancelling (ANC), fast pairing, and greater battery life.
The Project Rock headphones come with a new design, appearing slightly sleeker than the previous model while also retaining the Brahma Bull insignia on each foldable cup. Since it is designed for workout use, the device features Under Armour designed quick-drying SuperVent ear cushions and grip material on the headband – the former is detachable, so you can hand wash them when necessary. On top of this, the headphones itself is also water resistant with a rating of IPX4.
Much like its predecessor, the new Project Rock headphones are equipped with 40mm drivers that are enhanced by JBL Charged Sound. Accompanying its onboard ANC capability is the audio maker’s Bionic Hearing with TalkThru technology, which lets you hear other people conversing with you when enabled. Newly added are voice command compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
The Rock-endorsed audio device is claimed to feature a battery life of up to 45 hours of use on a single charge. There’s also fast charging support via JBL Speed Charge, which is said to be able to provide two hours of playback time with just five minutes of power top-up.
The Project Rock Over-Ear Training Headphones is priced at US$300 (~RM1,257) and is available for purchase via the official US online stores for Under Armour and JBL. Seeing that the predecessor was previously brought in by JBL Malaysia, there’s a possibility that the newer model might make its way in the local market in the near future. For your reference, the 2018 Under Armour Project Rock headphones are priced at RM1,119.
If over-ears aren’t really your thing, then you might want to consider the Project Rock TWS earbuds instead.
