Back in 2019, Waze got the ability to give you toll estimates for your drive. It’s not a feature that the other navigation app under the same parent, Google Maps, has. But that may finally be changing, at least according to a new report.
Android Police reports members of the Google Maps preview program have been informed that the next major feature to be added will be tolls. This will display the prices of tolls at each individual point, as well as an estimated total for a specific route.
As it is for most users currently, Google Maps only tells you if a route that you have chosen has tolls. There’s also the option to avoid toll roads before you begin navigation, but that’s about it. Needless to say, this is a major improvement to the way the app works right now.
All that being said, there’s no word on when this feature will go live for the general public. The Android Police report states that even members of the Google Maps preview program don’t yet have access to toll estimates. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that it will be awhile before it becomes available to the average user.
