Despite it being not that long since Saints Row: The Third got remastered, it seems that the series is due for a reboot. Because that looks like what will be happening at Gamescom. And this teaser of sorts comes straight from the host and producer of the event’s opening night.
Goeff Keighley tweeted a reminder that Gamescom is happening this coming Thursday. But as part of the tweet, there’s an additional line that references the player character of the series. Then there’s the accompanying media showing the word “rebooting” with the fleur-de-lis symbol that the game makes use of.
5 days until @gamescom #OpeningNightLive on Wednesday.

The word reboot is thrown around quite a lot in the video games space recently. But the word itself just means bringing a series back to relevance, broadly speaking. In other words, it’s still up in the air as to if a new entry is coming to the series, or a remaster or remake of the older games is on its way.
Considering the way the plot of Saints Row IV basically threw itself out the window, the latter is probably more likely. That being said, we’ll only know for sure what the series’ developer Volition has in plan for the reboot when the official announcement comes along.
