More details about AMD’s Ryzen 9 5980HX mobile CPU has cropped up, a little more than a week after it came to light that the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE would be one of the first laptops to ship out with it. The leaked details, by the way, come by way of a Geekbench benchmark listing.
The leaked details were first discovered by Leakbench (@leakbench) and posted on Twitter and as luck would have it, the laptop in question happens to be the mobile powerhouse that was named in the leak. Specifically, the listing points towards the CPU running at a base clock of 3.3GHz, while its maximum clockspeed is listed at 4598MHz, or 4.6GHz as a round-up. Further, it lists the CPU’s codename as Cezanne as sports 8-cores and 16-threads.
Additionally, the 5980HX was paired with 32GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM. It also scored 1523 points in the single-core test and 8469 points in the Geekbench multi-core test.
Those numbers actually sound impressive and by comparison, it’s almost certainly on par with Intel’s own beastly mobile CPU, the 11th generation Core i9-11980HK. In regards to its Geekbench performance, the CPU obtained single-core and multi-core scores of 1642 and 9199 points, respectively.
Again, there’s still no word when the CPU and, in this case, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE will officially be hitting the market and until we get a chance to actually test the 5980HX for ourselves, we’re just going to be holding our breath for a while.
