Information about a new dual-screen ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, powered by an AMD Ryzen CPU instead of an Intel CPU, has made its way online. The laptop was first spotted in a listing on the US-based online retail site, Newegg.
As per the product specifications on the page, the AMD Ryzen CPU that is inside the laptop is a Ryzen 9 5980HX, which is based on the chipmaker’s Zen 3 architecture. It is AMD’s top-of-the-line Cezanne model and is a direct competitor to Intel’s own Core i9-11980HK. On that note, the CPU is also overclockable, as denoted by its “HX” suffix at the end.
Other specifications listed on the Newegg site points to the laptop having 16GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, and GPU options ranging from an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 to an RTX 3080. For its display, the main display is a Full HD 300Hz IPS panel, although it’s almost a certainty that there will be an option for a 4K 120Hz panel.
On that note, it should be pointed out that this isn’t the first Zephyrus Duo 15 SE to be fitted with AMD’s Ryzen 5000 mobile series CPU. Earlier in the year, ASUS launched the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE with two other Ryzen CPU configurations: the Ryzen 9 5900HX and Ryzen 7 5800H.
At the time of writing, there is still no official word from ASUS about the 5980HX-powered model.
