Rumours of the next Grand Theft Auto game not coming until 2025 can be pretty discouraging. But in the meantime Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two interactive says that it is working on what sounds like remasters of existing games.
The company confirmed in a presentation to investors that it is currently working on three unannounced “new iterations of previously released titles”. This suggests that it will be either remasters or remakes of existing games. Though no details were shared on which titles the company is either remastering or remaking. This can be found on page nine of the presentation.
On the same page, the company confirms that it is releasing another version of Grand Theft Auto V for the current generation of consoles. Alongside this is a standalone release of GTA Online. This is an expected move, considering Red Dead Online got its standalone release. But it is strange to see the company doing so for the less successful one first, as GTA Online has continuously retained more players.
As Take-Two is a publisher with many labels under its umbrella, it’s not easy to guess which game will be getting the remaster treatment. These are set to be released within the company’s financial year of 2022, which means some time by the end of March 2022. The only thing we can do is rule out the most recent remasters the company released, which is last year’s Mafia: Trilogy.
