Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends is a great addition to the already great base game. As a free multiplayer component, it outdid many paid looter games out there. Now, Sucker Punch Productions have decided to release the mode as a standalone purchase, without the base game.
This is a move we first saw with Rockstar Games and Red Dead Online. But that’s not all for the standalone release of Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends, as it is also getting a new game mode called Rivals. This pits two teams of two players against each other, as they compete in taking out enemies as quickly as possible.
As you kill enemies, you get a resource called Magatama, which you can spend to send curses and artillery to the other team, or even block purchases of their own. Spend enough, and you’ll get to the Final Stand waves. Clear that before the other team, and you win.
If you want to get Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends as a standalone game, this will be available on 3 September for RM89. Though there’s little reason to do so, as you’ll be missing out on the brilliant base game, as well as a few cosmetics that you can only unlock from there. But if you do go down that path and decide you want the full game after all, you can upgrade to the Director’s Cut version of the game for RM160 on the PS4, or RM210 for the PS5.
