Casio had recently unveiled a new addition to its collection of Gundam-branded collaborative G-Shock watches. This time around, the new watch is a limited edition G-Shock DW-6900 featuring a colour scheme that is inspired by the series’ protagonist, Amuro Ray – specifically, the pilot suit that he donned in the film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
The new G-Shock DW-6900 Amuro Ray Limited Edition comes in an all-white body, along with lemon yellow wordings and a black border surrounding its watchface. Visible on each strap is a disjointed red vertical stripe – a prominent design element featured on the protagonist’s pilot suit.
Located on top of its interface is a Londo Bell emblem (the same one featured on the character’s mecha, the RX-93 Nu Gundam) and tapping the chrome G-Shock button will reveal Amuro Ray’s insignia, which is only visible when the blue EL backlight is activated. Meanwhile, on the back of the watch is a stainless steel case with an alternate Londo Bell emblem design.
Unfortunately, this limited edition timepiece won’t be available for everyone as it is announced to be an exclusive for Gundam Fan Club premium members in Japan. According to the club’s official online store, the Casio G-Shock DW-6900 Amuro Ray Limited Edition is slated to be released in early October 2021, and is retailing at a tax-included price of JPY 22,000 (~RM 846) plus JPY 800 (~RM30) for shipping.
Besides Mobile Suit Gundam, Casio also released a variety of limited edition G-Shock watches that feature collaborations with other popular Japanese pop-culture franchises prior to this. These include hit anime and manga titles such as Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Evangelion, and much more.
