Just days after the company began taking pre-orders for the G-Shock GBD-200 fitness watch, Casio has announced the availability of another G-Squad model in Malaysia. This around, it is the big gun though which comes in the form of the G-Shock G-Squad Pro GSW-H1000.
Originally introduced back in April, GSW-H1000 is the first-ever G-Shock to run on Google’s Wear OS which made it a bona fide smartwatch as opposed to other models released under the G-Squad banner before. Designed to withstand water depth of up to 200 meters, the watch is equipped with a 1.2-inch dual-layer touch screen that contained both colour and monochrome display panel.
As you may expect from a fitness-oriented smartwatch, plenty of sensors have been equipped into GSW-H1000 including optical-based heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyrometer, magnetic sensor, and pressure sensor. The watch also has built-in support for GPS and GLONASS as well as the Michibiki/Quasi-Zenith Satellite System which is operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
The watch has been pre-installed with Casio’s own app that able to track 15 activities including running, trail running, road biking, cycling, mountain biking, pool swimming, surfing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, walking, and surprisingly, fishing too. Users can use the watch to keep track 24 indoor workouts as well.
In terms of battery life, Casio said that the GSW-H1000 can last up to one and a half day worth of usage in normal mode while it can be further extended to one month if users choose just to utilize its timekeeping functions and sensors. The watch also apparently takes around three hours to be fully charged via its magnetic charging cable.
Just like any other models under the G-Squad banner, users can upload and analyse their workout data through the G-Shock Move app. In terms of pricing, the G-Shock G-Squad Pro GSW-H1000 is now readily available in Malaysia for RM2,999.
