Earlier this week, several unfortunate souls lost their GeForce RTX 3090 when they decided to try out the beta of Amazon’s latest MMO, New World, with EVGA branded cards being the most susceptible. In response to the mass bricking, EVGA’s customer support has been running at full speed, helping those affected by RMA-ing new RTX 3090s directly to them.
What is even more impressive about EVGA’s actions is that the brand isn’t even waiting to test out the dead RTX 3090s and are just shipping out the replacements to customers without a second thought. The brand is also reportedly cross-shopping other brands in order to meet its delivery times.
As gracious as EVGA is, though, there is also more bad news. According to JayzTwoCents, the YouTuber also recently received word that other cards besides the RTX 3090 are also being bricked by the Amazon MMO. The list includes AMD’s Radeon RX 590, 6800, 6800XT, 6900XT, and NVIDIA’s recently launched RTX 3080 Ti.
I've now had the following GPU owners express they have had shut downs and failures with New World…
RX590
6800
6800XT
6900XT
3080Ti
3090
So once again, the issue definitely is with SOMETHING in the way the game New World is rendering. This ISNT a 3090'exclusive issue! PERIOD!!— JayzTwoCents (@JayzTwoCents) July 22, 2021
EVGA says that it is currently looking into the issue, but over on Amazon’s side, the company released a statement, acknowledging the issue but denied that its game was the cause of it. However, with JayzTwoCents’ latest findings, it is looking more likely that the New World beta is the culprit. In which case, it could lead to a several, very messy lawsuits against Amazon in the future.
