If you’re looking for an affordable Samsung branded 5G-enabled smartphone, then you may want to consider the Galaxy A22. The handset is available now in Malaysia at a sub-RM1,000 price tag which is considerably cheaper than the brand’s other 5G-enabled entry level smartphone, the Galaxy A32 5G. Well, the term “sub-RM1,000” is kind of pushing it, as the Galaxy A22 is actually priced at RM999.
The newly arrived phone features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ TFT display, with a waterdrop notch that houses an 8MP front-facing camera. Under its hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset, paired together with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage, which is expandable up to 1TB via MicroSD. Powering the phone is a large 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support via USB-C.
On the back of the Galaxy A22 5G is a triple camera setup which consists of a 48MP main, 5MP ultra wide-angle, and a 2MP depth sensor. It is also capable of shooting videos up to 2K resolution at 30 fps, and also features a Slow Motion mode which records HD footage at 120fps.
Other features include dual-sim support, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, GPS navigation, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Out of the box, the Galaxy A22 5G comes with Android 11 via the latest Samsung’s One UI system.
As mentioned earlier, the new Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is retailing at RM999 and is available via the brand’s e-store, official online stores on Lazada and Shopee, as well as authorised retailers. The phone comes in three different colourways: Grey, Mint, and Violet.
