The Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) has once again collaborated with Shopee to run the Durian e-Fiesta on the popular e-commerce platform. Interesting enough, the agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries said that this was held not only to take advantage of the ongoing durian season but also to help combat durian scams.
Now in its second year, all durians purchased at Durian e-Fiesta which is taking place from today until 31 July are protected by Shopee Guarantee whereby the e-commerce platform would hold on to the payment until the customer agrees to release it to the seller. This way, the customer can request for a refund if the durian that they purchased turns out to be bad.
Aside from that, FAMA and Shopee also said that they will be offering numerous discount vouchers throughout the festival at eFAMAPLACE’s minisite although as always, these vouchers are subjected to certain terms and conditions which may include a specific minimum spend.
In case you are wondering, yes, durian sellers participating in the Durian e-Fiesta will also conduct a Shocking Sales session every day whereby customers can purchase the highly sought-after fruit for as low as RM 0.77. We kid you not, as we encountered such a deal last night:
Kenneth Soh, Senior Manager of Shopee Malaysia has said that the company together with FAMA have helped digitalise 211 durian sellers and prepared them for this year’s Durian e-Fiesta. You can check them out at the eFAMAPLACE section of the Shop Malaysia portal inside the Shopee app as shown above or head on to this link on Shopee Malaysia’s website if you prefer to use a web browser instead.
