While the MateView GT may have received some extra attention since it’s the first-ever gaming monitor from Huawei, that doesn’t mean the company has ditched smartphones though. Among the new products for APAC that Huawei has launched last night, there is still such a device in the list.
It comes in the form of nova 8i which is essentially a mid-range device that mainly pivots around design and photography. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 which is an interesting decision by Huawei, the EMUI 11-based phone also carries a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage as standard.
In terms of camera hardware, the nova 8i features a 64MP f/1.9 main camera, accompanied by an 8MP f/2.4 ultra wide-angle camera. The rear camera module also features a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera and another 2MP f/2.4 setup for its depth camera.
For selfies, the nova 8i relies on a 16MP front camera and to complete its specs, Huawei has also equipped a 4300mAh battery for the phone. The phone also supports the 66W Huawei SuperCharge tech which allows it to be fully charged in just 38 minutes.
The 2021 Huawei nova 8i is now readily available for pre-order until 21 July 2021 via Huawei Malaysia’s online store for RM 1,299. Early adopters will receive a Huawei Entertainment Gift Pack, 3 months of Huawei Music VIP subscription, 1 month VIP access to Huawei Video, and a 200GB Huawei Cloud Storage subscription for 1 month.
