Esports Integrated (ESI), our current iteration of the national esports initiative, has announced the Malaysia Esports League 2021. The League will be held between 10 July and 10 September, and features a prize pool of RM200,000.
The Malaysia Esports League will feature four games – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, FIFA21 and Dota 2. Participatants will first go through the state leagues. Winners take home RM2000, and then head to the national leagues. Winners at this stage will take home RM20,000.
Under normal circumstances, tourneys usually culminate in a finals event with heavy on-ground, physical presence. With COVID-19 National Recovery Plan standard operating procedures in place, though, the MEL21 will be held online in its entirety.
In a statement, ESI CEO Ahmed Faris Amir says that MEL21 aims to be the tournament where players of all levels can participate. This is as opposed to the norm, where large tourneys are usually catered to professional players only, with semi-professional and amateur players only competing in smaller tourneys.
Registrations for MEL21 are currently open for all four games. Participation is free as well. If you’re interested, you can find more information on the registration process, as well as tournament schedules, via the link below.
