Epic Games has recently announced that action-adventure video game Control is currently up for grabs via its digital storefront, completely free of charge. The game is the latest from the original Max Payne developer Remedy Entertainment, and was formerly released as an Epic Games Store (EGS) exclusive back in 2019 before launching as Control: Ultimate Edition on Steam in August 2020.
For the uninitiated, the game is a third-person shooter that features a reality-bending setting and story that takes inspiration from works by author H.P. Lovecraft and even film director David Lynch. As my colleague John Law describes it, “Control is a game where the protagonist is desperate for answers, even if it means sacrificing what little sanity she has left to a noir-ish themed, supernatural realm.”
On top of being a gun-toting action title, the game also features a variety of supernatural powers such as telekinesis, levitation and even mind, well, control. All of which the player can take advantage of in order to turn the tides of battle.

Keep in mind that the current freebie offered by Epic Games is the base version of Control. Meaning to say that additional content, namely “The Foundation” and “AWE” expansion packs, are required to be purchased separately. These are priced at RM20.49 each on EGS, although you’re better off getting the game’s season pass instead, which is currently discounted on the store at only RM30.99, that is if you’re planning to score both DLCs in a bundle.
As with every weekly free game offered by Epic, Control is claimable at no charge via EGS for a duration of seven days. Specifically, the offer will end next Thursday on 17 June 2021 at 11pm, as shown on its store listing. Once redeemed, the title will be included in your EGS library and is yours to keep permanently.
