While Tile has dominated the smart tracker market for years, smartphone companies such as Apple and Samsung have recently entered the segment with their AirTags and SmartTags. Now, it seems OnePlus wants in on the action, if a trademark patent by the company is to be taken seriously.
The Oppo subsidiary recently filed a trademark for the word “OnePlusTag”. Although the listing doesn’t specify what device it’s for, the name would suggest that it will be used for an upcoming tracker device.
While OnePlus has not announced anything yet, they do have an event happening on 10 June. The event will launch the new OnePlus Nord CE 5G phone, the successor to the OnePlus Nord N10.
In April, leaks revealed that Oppo plans on releasing its own smart tag. Given how OnePlus has been know to rebrand its parent company’s phones in the past, it wouldn’t surprise us if the brand went ahead and did the same with its tracker.
