It was rolled out without much fanfare but Android TV users all over the world including in Malaysia can now add yet another into their devices: the Apple TV app.
Before this, the app was limited to Sony Bravia TVs and Chromecast with Google TV. Other than that, the Apple TV app is also available on smart TVs by Samsung, LG, and VIZIO as well as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Nevertheless, the rollout was something that has been anticipated for quite some time as the plan for its wider release on the Android TV operating system was first revealed back in December 2020.
To obtain the app for your Android TV device, you just need to make sure that it is running on at least Android 8.0 Oreo or newer. After that, you can search for the Apple TV app through Google Play on your device.
If you’re planning to utilise the app to watch Apple TV+, the streaming service is currently priced at RM 19.90 per month for an individual plan and is also available as part of Apple One. If you are unsure whether you should subscribe to it, you can always take advantage of its free seven-day trial first.
