A new leak on Weibo by prominent leaker l0vetodream seems to claim that this year’s upcoming iPhone 13 lineup could come with bigger batteries compared to last year’s iPhones.
Here are the battery specs of the iPhone 13 series (according to the leak) compared to the iPhone 12 series:
- iPhone 12 mini – 2,227mAh
- iPhone 13 mini – 2,406mAh (8% increase)
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro – 2,815mAh
- iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro – 3,095mAh (9.9% increase)
- iPhone 12 Pro Max – 3,687mAh
- iPhone 13 Pro Max – 4,352mAh (18% increase)
This comes as no surprise as reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in March that the iPhone 13 series will include larger batteries and that Apple is said to be adopting new space-saving designs such as integrating the SIM card slot with the mainboard.
On top of the bigger battery capacities, the iPhone 13 series is also rumoured to be equipped with a low-power 120Hz LTPO display and the more power-efficient A15 chip based on TSMC’s Advanced 5nm+ node process.
While it seems like we’ll be looking at a significantly upgraded battery life for the upcoming series, there is another factor to consider. The iPhone 13 series is rumoured to adopt ProMotion display technology and an always-on display, which would no doubt substantially increase battery drain.
