After all these years, Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi TV in Malaysia. Starting from 6 June, local consumers are able to pre-order Mi TV P1 Series as well as the higher-end Mi TV Q1 which have just received their official Malaysian launch today alongside Redmi Note 10 5G and Note 10S.
If you could recall, Xiaomi did attempt to bring Mi TV into Malaysia last year. In a way, it did happen but the Mi TV 4S came as a free gift for Xiaomi Mi 10T customers instead of a general release.
For starters, the Mi TV P1 Series for Malaysia can be obtained in three different screen sizes including 32, 43, and 55-inch. In terms of screen resolution, the 32-inch model comes with an HD (1366 x 76) screen while the larger 43 and 55-inch variants have a 4K UHD display with support for Dolby Vision although only the 55-inch P1 supports HDR10+ while its 43-inch counterpart is limited to HDR10.
Aside from their screen size, these three Mi TV P1 are also equipped with different internal hardware. For example, the 32-inch model is powered by a MediaTek MSD6683 chip with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB internal storage but the 43 and 55-inch variants carry a MediaTek MT9611 alongside 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
Not surprisingly, the Mi TV P1 with a 32-inch screen was only given HDMI 2.0 and Android TV 9 but its two larger screen siblings received HDMI 2.1 and Android TV 10. However, all three models still feature a pair of 10W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS-HD enhancements.
Meanwhile, there is also the Mi TV Q1 which carries a 75-inch QLED 4K display that features 192-zone full array local dimming, 1000nits peak brightness, and support for HDR10+ as well as Dolby Vision standards. Also powered by the MediaTek MT9611 chip, Q1 has also been equipped with 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC-based storage.
While the Q1 can provide 4K 120Hz output, Xiaomi noted that the TV is not able to do this natively but instead, it is being done through the Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC) feature. Similarly, the Q1 doesn’t come with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) feature but still supports HDMI 2.1’s eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
Price-wise, the 32-inch Mi TV P1 goes for RM 999 when pre-order opens on 6 June although early birds are able to obtain it through Lazada and Shopee for slightly less at RM 899. If they are really early, Xiaomi will also be giving the first 100 pre-order customers the new Mi Smart Band 6.
As for the 43-inch Mi TV P1, it can also be obtained for much lower than its standard price tag during the pre-order day on 6 June. Specifically, it will go for RM 1,499 as compared to its normal RM 1,799 pricing.
If the 55-inch Mi TV P1 is more of your taste, you can also pre-order it on 6 June but at no discounts though as its pre-order price is still identical to the TV’s standard price tag of RM 2,499. That being said, customers would be provided with a Mi AIoT set that includes a Mi Vacuum Cleaner Mini, Mi 360 Home Security Camera 2K, Mi Body Composition Scale 2, and Mi Wi-Fi Range Extender Pro while stocks last.
Not to forget, the 75-inch Mi TV Q1 can also be pre-ordered on 6 June for RM 7,999. For a limited time, those who purchase this particular 4K QLED TV will receive a Mi Air Purifier Pro H, in addition to the same Mi AIoT freebie set that was prepared for the early adopters of the 55-inch Mi TV P1.
Customers that purchase the Mi TV P1 Series and Q1 within the first three months of their launch can also redeem a 1-month free subscription to WeTV and iQIYI streaming services. In terms of in-store availability, only the 32-inch Mi TV P1 is being made available exclusively on Lazada and Shopee while other models can still be purchased through Authorized Mi Stores, Senheng, and other official retailers throughout Malaysia.
