Following Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media, it has always been a possibility that Starfield would be an Xbox and PC exclusive. The same goes with any other title published by Bethesda, and other studios under the ZeniMax umbrella. And while it’s not officially confirmed, industry sources indicate this will be the case.
More specifically, sources to GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb have claimed that Starfield will indeed be exclusive to Xbox and PC. In addition, Grubb also claims that the game will make an appearance next month during E3. Beyond that, the game will be released in 2022.
Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that. https://t.co/j78Msk8nyG

Starfield was first announced back in 2018, but Bethesda has since not announced much about the game. With the publisher getting acquired by Microsoft, there was always a chance that it would be exclusive to the latter’s platforms. This notion was reinforced twice in March of this year. Though the second one had a heavier emphasis on Game Pass specifically.
The exclusivity of Starfield made an extreme swing in the opposite direction, according to VGC. The outlet reports that, before ZeniMax was acquired by Microsoft, the company was discussing making the game a PS5 timed exclusive. Though now, it remains to be seen if the Microsoft exclusivity is a timed or permanent thing.
