E-wallet KiplePay is powering the payment system behind WarongKu, a newly launched government initiative and e-commerce platform that’s aimed at bringing small traders online towards contactless and cashless business operations.
WarongKu’s goal is to provide 25,000 small traders with their own payment terminals with cashless and contactless payment options by 2022. To date, 3,000 small traders have been equipped with payment terminals, with another 3,500 small traders set to join their ranks in the next batch.
Once these small traders – such as gerai, warong, and restaurants – set up an online shop on WarongKu, they’ll have access to cashless transactions thanks to KiplePay payment terminals and gateway. Consumers can pay using any of their preferred e-wallet providers, including the KiplePay e-wallet.
Also, when small traders sign up as a WarongKu merchant, they’ll automatically receive a Kiple Merchant ID, allowing them to receive sales payments as fast as within two days – quicker than the typical time frame.
WarongKu was developed under the Transformasi Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil Menerusi Pendigitalan initiative driven by SME Corp and the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC). It’s operated by Idea Creative Technology Sdn Bhd (ICTSB) in partnership with Gabungan Persatuan Persatuan Penjaja Kecil Melayu Malaysia (GPPPKMM).
