Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to not shut down its old PlayStation Store for the PS3 and PS Vita. But without the consoles, the company has made it difficult to access their stores. Now, it can be done with a Mozilla Firefox Browser.
YouTuber Silica made the extension, which works by basically taking you through the internet wayback machine via archive.org. With it, you’ll be able to buy PS3 and PS Vita games via the old PlayStation Store UI. This also extends to the PSP store, before it’s gone for good in July. You can even use the search bar to look for specific titles, even those for the PS5.
If you’re not a fan of Mozilla Firefox, this is still possible with other browsers. But the process is definitely more involved, and has some inherent jank in the process. Silica explains that you need a HTML file that SIE removed from the old PlayStation Store to get it to work again.
SIE put the new store in place late last year, but it’s not necessarily the most popular of stores. If you’re among those who prefer the old look, this may be something of interest to you.
