Having seen bits of what may be the next Sony Xperia flagship phone, the next thing to wait for is hints of an official launch date. The company has since provided one, via its Instagram account.
The post itself only details a product announcement scheduled for 14 April. It will be a live-streamed event over at the official Sony Xperia YouTube channel. And it will start at 3:30PM Malaysian time. Unfortunately, the post itself does not detail what the company intends to announce.
It’s quite likely that the leaked Sony Xperia 1 III will be making an appearance. According to a Weibo tipster, the device will come armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 5000mAh battery with 65W charging. These will complement the 6.5-inch 4K OLED display we’ve seen from the previous leak.
The very same leaker also shared that the device will also be accompanied by the Xperia 10 III and the Xperia 5 III. Though no specs of the other two devices were shared.
Sony announcing only these three Xperia devices would be well within expectations of most. Though fans of its old Compact line may still be holding out hope for something new. After all, the previous hope is more than likely dashed by the Xperia Ace 2 revelation.
