Back in late December 2020, Astro had conducted a trial for a new TV box which it refers to as the Connected HD Box. The company is now ready to deploy the new set-top box to the masses and has also finalised its name: the Ulti Box.
Targeted at Astro customers that have a monthly subscription fee of under RM 100, the Ulti Box has the same physical design as per Astro Ultra Box but with a smaller footprint. Aside from that, another major factor that differentiates both of these boxes apart is the fact that the Ulti Box maximum resolution is Full HD as opposed to 4K for the Ultra Box.
Other than that, the Ulti Box provides the same features that Ultra Box owners have already utilised since late 2019. Among them include cloud recording, on-demand content streaming, Play From Start, and search engine in addition to having an identical user interface.
Similarly, Astro has also recommended Internet speed of at least 10Mbps for the new Ulti Box. It also comes standard with 200 hours of cloud storage which is shared between the Ulti Box and Astro GO app although customers can obtain additional storage space from RM 12 per month.
As for the pricing, existing Astro customers with a Monthly Pack of under RM 100 can swap their existing Astro box with the new Ulti Box for RM 49 as its installation fee. On another hand, new customers will be charged RM 99 for the installation fee.
Meanwhile, do take note that the box does come with a 24-month contract while if your Astro monthly fee is RM 100 and above, the company will recommend the Ultra Box instead. For further details, just head on to Astro’s official website.
