The new God of War came out back in 2018, and it was very successful, to say the least. Sony’s Santa Monica Studio also released a nearly two-hour long documentary of the making of the game. Now, with the release of the PS5, the game is getting a patch for the new console.
If you’ve played God of War on the PS4 Pro, you’ll remember having to choose either 4K resolution or 60fps. This new upcoming patch essentially combines both if you run the game on the PS5. Though the studio does specify that it’s actually Checkerboard 2160p.
The God of War (2018) Enhanced Performance Experience for the PS5 is coming tomorrow!

It’s worth pointing out though that this is not a new version of God of War for the new console. It’s still the same old version for the previous generation machine. And if you want that experience on the new machine, you can still do so with the new Original Performance Experience option.
In a blog post, Santa Monica Studio says that the God of War patch will be released on 2 February. Though with time zone differences, we may be getting it a day late. The patch will also be available for free. So if you own the game, and are lucky enough to also own a PS5, you can revisit the game with an improved experience.
