Final Fantasy VII Remake will be one year old come April. And with that, so ends the game’s timed exclusivity for the PS4. Due to this, rumours of the game getting a PC port have surfaced.
The rumour came from the ResetEra forums, via industry insider KatharsisT. They claim that Square Enix will be announcing a PS5 version of FF7R, alongside a PC one as well, later this year. Though they made no mention of other platforms such as the like of Xbox Series X or Nintendo Switch.
The biggest piece here is naturally the PC port. FF7R is technically already available on the PS5, via backwards compatibility. And it remains to be seen if a dedicated version will have enough enhancements to be worth it. There’s also the whole issue of free upgrades.
No word on when Square Enix will be making the announcement though. The earliest will probably be in April, when the PS4 timed exclusivity ends. At any rate, it’s unlikely that the Final Fantasy VII Remake ports will be out immediately after that. That being said, it remains to be seen if that will happen before or after part two of the remake gets released.
