In a joint release with Shopee, local wholesale and retail chain Mydin has announced that its outlets nationwide will now accept payment via the ShopeePay, making it the first hypermarket in Malaysia to do so. Like most e-wallets, ShopeePay allows payments to be made using a mobile phone app.
Mydin Managing Director Ameer Ali Mydin said the payment method would “help speed up the process when compared to paying cash over the counter. Where systems are in place, it will also minimise the chance of human error.” The company also highlighted the value of contactless payment in preventing the spread of Covid-19.
As a promotion, the company announced that shoppers will receive a one-time special RM4 cashback when they spend at least RM10 and pay with ShopeePay at any Mydin retail outlet from now until 28 February 2021, or until it is fully redeemed. Shoppers also stand to get RM3 cashback daily on their subsequent purchase at any branch when they spend a minimum of RM15 in a single transaction.
On top of that, first-time ShopeePay users can look forward to an RM8 voucher when they make their first transaction with a minimum spend of RM25.
Those eager to try out the ShopeePay payment method at Mydin outlets might want to take advantage of the “Back to School with MYDIN” campaign, which takes place from 7 January until 24 January 2021. The campaign promises attractive deals on school uniforms, shoes, socks, school bags, stationery items and more.
