Several areas throughout Malaysia have recently experienced massive floods which has also affected telecommunications equipment over there. Despite that, telco companies still have to make sure that their services remain accessible.
TM has recently provided a small glimpse into how the company tackles the effect of the flood on its equipment. Dubbed as the Ops Kabinet, this particular set of images apparently involved TM’s operation in Mentakab and Maran in Pahang.
In general, the 5-man team deployed by TM Pahang are required to clean and repair the equipment that has been submerged during the floods in the state. While the operation mainly takes place after the waters have subsided, one of the images clearly showed that the team members had to brace the raging waters to rescue the equipment.
Earlier this week, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have stated that local telcos have already activated their respective natural disaster recovery plans in response to the flood. Among steps that they have taken include the deployment of emergency power supply and generators set at telco towers that were affected by floods as well as having temporary mobile base stations being installed at flood relief centres.
