In an invite to the media today, Xiaomi has unveiled its plan to launch the Redmi 9T later this week. While the invite is pointing to Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page, the company stated that it will be a global virtual launch event.
The timing of the invite seemed rather apt as Xiaomi has just teased a brand-new Redmi model for Malaysia last week. The image in the teaser showed the rear camera module of the phone which has led us to believe that we may be looking at Redmi 9 Power which the company has just announced for India recently.
However, there were already rumours within the pipeline that the phone would be called Redmi 9T in selected markets especially after its appearance on the database of Thailand’s communication authority. If that is true, then the Redmi 9T should have the same specs as Redmi 9 Power which include Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display, 48MP quad-camera on its back, 8MP selfie camera, 6000mAh battery, and 18W fast charger support.
Nevertheless, let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Stay tuned for more information about Redmi 9T and Xiaomi’s plan for it in Malaysia this coming Friday, 8 January.
