DHL Express and Aerodyne Group has announced a new partnership with the interest of assessing the commercial viability of using drone technology for deliveries. Both companies will be focusing on smart logistic solutions for life sciences and maritime industries in Malaysia.
Through this partnership, the companies have identified market opportunities for improving the transportation of healthcare related supplies in East Malaysia and time-critical essentials to vessels travelling in the Malaccan Straits. At the same time, both parties also plan on exploring drone deliveries for a wider range of industries within Malaysia to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
“The fourth industrial revolution, accented by digital transformation across many industries coupled with the pace of change in the logistics industry, requires constant innovative approaches to meet evolving demand and ensure future-ready supply chains,” said Julian Neo, Managing Director of DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei. “This is where drones and robotics play a vital role in the future of logistics, especially for businesses in Malaysia.”
“In tandem with the global rise of drone delivery, our partnership with DHL Express is timely to make this service compliant, as well as technically and commercially viable in Malaysia and beyond,” commented Aerodyne Group Founder and CEO Kamarul A Muhamad. In addition, he added that the collaboration will also heighten its advocacy efforts worldwide for supportive regulations on drone services as well as spur more breakthroughs in its drone and data technologies.
