Earlier in the year, rumours began to surface that Samsung had an ISOCELL sensor with 600MP in the pipeline, before going silent. It’s nearly the end of the year and recently, new information about said sensor has leaked.
The leak was tweeted by well-known leakster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) and appears to be part of a presentation slide, shown during Samsung’s Investors Forum 2020 event. The slide itself is vague and lacking any detailed information, but it does point to Samsung’s promise of a 600MP ISOCELL sensor at the size of 0.8μm.
Samsung is really doing 600MP sensors! pic.twitter.com/vGgsfxsGGh

Back then, Samsung said the 600MP ISOCELL was because it was trying to create a sensor with resolution similar to the human eye, which is perceived to be around 500MP. Also, at the highest resolution that is available on the current market is 108MP; while the sensor can already be found in select smartphone models, it is important to note that it is still not as widely adopted as the lesser 48MP and 64MP sensors.
At the time of writing, the leak did not specify when Samsung’s alleged 600MP ISOCELL will be available.
