Whether you like it or not, Paul WS Anderson and Milla Jovovich’s Monster Hunter movie is coming out in December, at least in the US. In conjunction with the film’s upcoming release, Capcom has revealed a crossover event that will be arriving on all versions of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which will reward players with new content from the movie. And yes, that also includes a fully playable Captain Artemis, the film’s protagonist who is played by Jovovich.
After numerous Resident Evil live action films, all it took is a Monster Hunter movie adaptation to finally convince Capcom to make a 3D model of the actress. Who would’ve thought?

Moving on. As with most crossover events in Iceborne, players will be offered a series of quests to fulfill in order to collect the necessary resources to purchase or build the movie themed gears and other goodies. One particular quest revealed by Capcom will place the players in the shoes of Captain Artemis, who is also voiced by Jovovich herself.
According to Famitsu, her questline will have players hunt down a Black Diablos in one mission and a Rathalos in another. From the teaser video posted on the game’s official Twitter account, it appears that Artemis would also be getting some help from the game’s version of The Admiral. So no in-game Ron Perlman, sadly.
The Captain Artemis character model will be unlocked as a Layered Armour set after completing the designated quests and once players have collected enough resources to forge it from the workshop. It appears that the protagonist’s Dual Blades weapon set (consisting of a Bone Hatchet and a Hunter’s knife) will be forgeable as well. Besides that, players will be able to collect the EX Artemis α Armour set for both male and female hunters, as well as movie-themed titles, background and poses for their Guild Card.
The movie crossover event and content will land on Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on 4 December 2020. Meanwhile, the movie is slated to premiere in the US on the same day and in other regions sometime in early 2021.
