After teasing its Watch S last weekend, it looks like realme still has another new product to be released in Malaysia very soon. This time around, the company will be releasing smart TVs which is quite a departure to the company’s current product line-up in the market that currently consists of smartphones, wearables, audio, and smart appliances.
This was confirmed through a teaser put up by realme on its Malaysian Facebook page earlier today:
At first, it was hard to tell the actual TV model that was being teased by the post. After a quick search, we then noticed that the graphics were similar to the teaser by realme India CEO Madhav Sheth that was tweeted back in May :
Let’s #LeapToNext on 25th May!
With products that are Smart, Powerful & Trendy, we are on the path of becoming India’s Most Popular Tech-Lifestyle brand.
See you guys! pic.twitter.com/stXIk9VkfB— Madhav Sheth (@MadhavSheth1) May 15, 2020
Judging from that, it seems likely that the model to be launched soon by the company in Malaysia is the original realme Smart TV. In India, it comes in the form of the 32-inch variant that has HD resolution while there is also the larger 43-inch model which offers a Full HD panel.
Powered by a quad-core MediaTek chip, the smart TV also runs on Android TV operating system and both feature 24W quad stereo speakers with support for Dolby Audio. Over there, the 32-inch model is currently listed at INR 14999 (~RM 828) while the 43-inch variant goes for IDR 23999 (~RM 1325).
realme also has another higher-end model that is called the Smart TV SLED 4K which apparently is the first TV in the world to feature a Spectral Power Distribution LED display panel. According to the company, what made SLED different from other LED panels is that it utilises red, green, and blue LED lights instead of a blue backlight as per other LED TVs out there.
This apparently allows the Smart TV SLED 4K to have higher colours gamut coverage at 108% NTSC. Still equipped with a MediaTek processor, the Android TV-based 4K TV is available only with a 55-inch screen and is priced at IDR 42999 (~RM 2374).
Unlike smartphones, wearables, and smart accessories, the smart TV market is a different ballgame altogether. So, it is going to be interesting to see how realme is going to make its mark in the segment but for the meantime, we will keep you posted once we hear more regarding the arrival of the realme Smart TV in Malaysia.
