It’s barely been a month since the availability of AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 series graphics cards, yet there are already rumours that Team Red is already planning on expanding its Big Navi family. Specifically, that a lower-tier, mid-range Radeon RX 6700 series is currently in the pipes.
Rumours of the RX 6700 series first came about through a tweet by Patrick Schur (@patrickschur_), who posted the technical code for two cards, presumably the RX 6700XT and 6700. Schur’s tweet also points to both cards being powered by a Navi 22 GPU, specifically a Navi 22 XT and Navi 22 XTL, as well as 12GB GDDR6 of graphics memory.
In addition, Schur alleges that the 6700XT will have a power envelope between 186W and 211W, while the 6700 will be somewhere between 146W and 156W. For context, those numbers are lower than the power consumption of AMD’s last-generation Radeon RX 5700XT, which is rated for 225W on a full load.
NV22 XT 186-211 W TGP (RX 6700 XT) 🧐
NV22 XTL 146-156 W TGP (RX 6700?)

There is, sadly, no additional details about the two mid-range RDNA2 GPUs, not even its projected performance numbers and launch date. That said, the world still has yet to see how AMD’s top-tier 6900XT will perform, so it’s likely that we’ll only be seeing the 6700 series sometime early next year.
Of course, this is just a rumour and as such, we recommend that you take this news with a pinch of salt.
