Gamers Hideout Releases Statement On PlayStation 5 PWP Preorder Bundles

It’s been nearly a week since Gamers Hideout (GH) was cast into the spotlight over its decision to sell its units of Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles with a Purchase with Purchase (PWP) bundle only. Today, the video game retail outlet is finally ready to address the issue.

As per the company’s official statement to the masses on Facebook, the company seems to acknowledge that its PS5 PWP bundle program has proven to be wildly unpopular, especially to gamers who simply wish to purchase just consoles alone. To that end, it says that it will be contacting customers who took part in the PWP bundle to “readjust” their purchases to a level that would be deemed comfortable to them.

Gamers Hideout PS5 PWP response

It’s worth noting that GH’s use of “readjust” is pretty broad and at no point in the statement did the company specify just how flexible the readjustment will be or if there is actually a cap on what it intends to refund to the customer. However, we’re fairly certain that if there’s one purchase bundle they’ll choose to remove, it’s probably going to be the Mystery Game pack that GH forced them to addon for RM400.

Having said that, if GH really is repentant about its action, the most honest reflection of its actions would be to give consumers the option of purchasing the console alone, without any of the addons.

As to why GH has suddenly adopted a penitent stance over its PS5 PWP bundle, that’s probably due to a personal Facebook message by Sony Malaysia circulating online. The personal message says that the brand was prepared to take “necessary action” against dealers that took advantage of the PS5 preorder, but went into no further detail. However, we actually advise that you scrutinise the alleged response from Sony, seeing that no one actually knows who circulated in the first place.
