Huawei Debuts Nova 8 SE Series In China; Features MediaTek Dimensity Chipsets

Huawei has launched the new Nova 8 SE series smartphones in China which consists of a standard model, and a High Edition with better specs. The new series is released not more than four months after its predecessor, the Nova 7 SE, was launched in Malaysia.

One major change in the Huawei Nova 8 SE series when compared to the previous models is the choice of chipsets included. Rather than using the brand’s own Kirin SoC, the Nova 8 SE and its High Edition variant uses MediaTek’s 5G-enabled Dimensity 720 and Dimensity 800U chipsets respectively. Both models come with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and runs on Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 (based on Android 10).

Other than that, both models include a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, dual SIM support, and dual-band WiFi.

The new Huawei Nova 8 SE series features a quad camera setup, which is housed in a square camera island. The setup consists of a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor.
