Back in August, PlayStation announced that you can play all three of the new Hitman games in PS VR. That is, once the third one launches in January 2021. Though it looks like you can only do this with the PS4 versions of the games, even on the PS5.
A PlayStation representative told UploadVR in an email to play in VR, you’ll need the PS4 version of Hitman 3. This will be the case even if you intend to play the game on the PS5. This is because the PS VR works as a backwards compatibility device. Which, incidentally, PlayStation is giving the adapter to PS VR owners.
The representative went on to say that the company has not announced any PS5 titles for PS VR. Also making the whole matter confusing is the fact that Hitman 3 is one of the titles that will be getting free upgrades to the PS5 version for owners of the PS4 title.
At it’s not just the new Hitman trilogy either. UploadVR also reports that No Man’s Sky in in pretty much the same situation. Owners of the PS4 version of the game will get the PS5 version for free. But at the same time, the game will only support VR “by virtue of backwards compatibility”.
