Whatsapp announced that it will now allow all users to mute a specific chat forever. The newly implemented feature comes in just a day after the company had revealed a new in-app ability that enables users to make purchases via its private messaging service.
As seen in the Twitter post below, the Facebook-owned company will now provide users with three separate mute durations ranging between Eight hours, One week and Always. Naturally, the newly implemented Always option would mean that WhatsApp users will now be able to permanently mute a chat if they do not wish to receive notifications from specific users or groups.

Prior to this update, users were only able to mute a chat for Eight hours, One week and One year. The recent addition would certainly be a much welcomed feature for a good number of users. Of course, you can always reactivate notifications from certain individuals or groups manually, should you change your mind later.
Based on our observation, the aforementioned feature is already available on WhatsApp right now. Having said that, do ensure that you have the app updated before you could fully utilise the feature.
