Snapchat has introduced a new feature that will allow users to scan packaged food labels and hard beverages such as wine by utilising its in-app camera tool. With this implementation, Snapchat users will now be able to gain nutritional information as well as tasting notes upon scanning the aforementioned food package or wine label.
This is done by simply scanning a specific barcode on the aforementioned products with the Snapchat camera. Upon doing so, Snapchat will then display their information regarding the nutritional facts and health benefits. Other details that can also be displayed include pricing, rating and even tasting notes.
In addition to scanning wine and food packages, the Snapchat camera is also able to identify plants, dog breed, solve a specific math equation, among other features. This new ability is aimed to make its camera more useful for all users, aside from its original intended social media purposes.
However, this new feature is only made available for other regions such as the US. At the time of writing, it is not known if this update will be introduced within the Malaysian region anytime soon.
