Smartphone makers are continuing to up the ante of charging speeds for both wired and wireless approaches, with OPPO introducing 125W and 65W respectively back in July. Now, fellow Chinese company Xiaomi just recently unveiled their new wireless charging technology via its official blog, which features 80W fast charging capability.
Along with the blog update, the brand also included a video demonstration of this new tech in action. According to it, the new 80W wireless charging tech is able to top up a modded Mi 10 Pro’s 4,000mAh battery in just 19 minutes.
Previously, Xiaomi introduced its 40W wireless charging capability in March, which was then succeeded by the 50W capability that was included with its Mi 10 Ultra smartphone that was launched in August.
Unfortunately, the company did not elaborate further regarding the new tech, so some details regarding heat generation is unknown for now. Xiaomi also did not reveal when its new 80W wireless charging technology will see a debut, but it’s quite likely that it might be included with its upcoming flagship products due later this year or the beginning of 2021.
