Back in July, news broke about ASUS’ Gundam-themed Wi-Fi 6 routers, the RTX AX86U and RT-AX82U. Rather than stop there, now it seems that ASUS has plans on expanding the theme towards other products.
Thanks to leaked images procured by popular leakster site, Videocardz, it’s clear that ASUS Gundam ambition will be spread across the board and will include not just components, but its own non-PC related merchandise as well. This includes a custom ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAM edition Z490 motherboard that, unlike the original, comes fitted with a pre-installed waterblock of the CPU.
To that end, there’s also images of an ASUS TUF X3 GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with its cooler shroud wearing the same EFSF Gundam colours, complete with blue and red accents. The list goes on and as you can see from the product overview here, the Gundam theme will definitely be applied to ASUS’ PSUs, AiO coolers, gaming monitors, casings, and PC accessories.
Likewise, it wouldn’t be fair for fans who like the Principality of Zeon, and as such, there are also ZAKU II-themed components and accessories, although, from the looks of it, products with this custom skin seem to be more limited than those with the Gundam skin.
At the time of writing, ASUS has not given any official word about the Gundam-themed product. However, consider just how vast the product line is, it’ll be interesting to see just how much longer ASUS can keep mum about it.
