Carl Pei, one of the co-founders of the smartphone brand, OnePlus, has reportedly left his company. According to sources close to TechCrunch, the now-former CEO of the company wanted to move on and start a new venture by himself.
Pei’s quiet exit does come as something of a surprise. His role in OnePlus has been nothing short of instrumental over the years, with the launch of the OnePlus Nord being his last major success to date. Designed as a mid-range device and described as the brand’s return to form, the OnePlus Nord’s pricing is arguably closer to the prices of the brand’s earlier flagships.
OnePlus also certainly seems to have wasted no time in replacing Pei as the head of its product line. As per the findings of Reddit user, JonSigur, a person by the name of Emily Dai has already been appointed as his replacement.
As to what Pei’s new venture is, although what exactly it is remains a mystery. That said, the man has made it clear that he will not be joining Samsung, despite having reached out to them at one point because he wanted to learn about the Korean company’s business process.
