Samsung recently announced a new device for its Galaxy A series, the A42 5G. The phone is clearly an entry-level device, but one of its main draws is that the phone is future-proof for 5G connectivity.
Specs-wise, the phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC, running in a 2+6 configuration with two cores running at 2.2GHz, while the remaining six cores are running at 1.8GHz. The phone can also have between 4GB and 8GB RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a large 5000mAh battery. As for the display, it is a 6.6-inch HD+ Infinity-U AMOLED panel. Oh, and it also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Around the back, the main quad-camera module comprises a 48MP f/1.8 main, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide, a 5MP f/2.4 macro, and a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. As for the selfie camera, the notch at the front houses a 20MP f/2.2 sensor, made to produce detailed and sharp selfies.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is available in three colours, Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot Gray, and Prism Dot White. At the time of writing, Samsung Malaysia did not specify local availability or pricing.
